It is generally believed by video pros that the DVD camcorder was a stupid invention.
That being said, most DVD discs have a series of VOB files. Copy the VOB files to your hard disk and change the extension to .mpg and import into Premiere Pro 2.0. Usually the first thing I do with a VOB file is convert it to DV-AVI. But you may be able to edit it no problem.If you have Premiere Pro 1.5, it may be best to capture via firewire as DV – does a DVD camcorder have this function? Perhaps not since it certainly does not convert from MPEG-2 to DV on the fly during playback.
You can use a program such as Virtual Dub with the MPG2 plugin to convert MPG2 files to a flavor of AVI, although not necessarily DV.
Did the camcorder come with editing software?
When people ask me “Can you recommend a good DVD camcorder?” I respond “No, I can’t”

you cannot re-capture the project? If you captured from DV tape, you can batch digitize the project.
The time it takes may be about the same as monkeying around with a workaround.I never delete footage until client says it is ok

it happened a second time, and now the project file is corrupted.
Of course I have an auto-save from an hour ago, so it is not the end of the world.

Try before you buy, as with any large purchase.
Rent each camera you are considering and see how they actually work, and how the video you shoot looks.
If you have an edit system that will handle HDV or P2, do some tests there as well. -
I find a combination of DeNoiser and EQ can work, albeit slightly muffling the audio if you try to remove all the background noise. I do not have Audition, so this works for me. Sometimes.
Agree with the others, export a WAV once you are happy. You will have to render the audio before laying to tape anyway. -

or copy the clip to a higher track – adjust the levels of the new clip – crop out the part you do not like, and use a blurred track matte to transition between the two, using the opacity controls on the upper clip also.

actually for SD DV we found these cheap USB / SATA portable hard drive enclosures which cost about $60, and for each new drive you buy you buy a little doo-hickie which locks it into the enclosure. The throughput is fine for laying off to tape.
