I can’t believe that everyone is okay with Soundbooth taking the place of Audition in the Video Production Suite. I kept thinking that I would see a lot of post about what a bad idea it is, but nothing. I find it hard to believe that video professionals cannot figure out Audition, so to fix the problem Adobe is going to develop a single track editor instead of Audition. Adobe says “Soundbooth will be able to complete 80% of the most common task that a video professional needs.” (Well, it was something like that.) So, for the other 20% of my needs I will need to go to another application. Lame. If Audition a and Soundbooth are so different, why don’t they include them both in the video collection. If really don’t think that people working with flash and people making a documentary have the same audio needs. Should Adobe redo After Effects since there are a lot of features video professionals don’t use or know how to use? I can buy software that will edit my video according to an audio track too, is it professional. Soundbooth seems like it is better suited for Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements. What are your thoughts? Maybe I am just misunderstanding something. (This message is posted Adobe’s site as well)

I think the idea sucks, after years of struggling with Premiere built in audio, the intergration of Audition into the production studio was welcome, probably some penny pinching bean counter trying to improve the bottom line.

I don’t like the idea as well, because it really decreases the audio capabilities of the Production Studio by a great extent. I really hope Adobe continues to offer Audition in the “premium” video bundle…

Don’t get me wrong: Soundbooth is fantastic! But, its no Audition.

Good to here…I thought I was the only one with a negative view of it all. I don’t see how they can compete with the Final Cut bundle if they remove Audition.

I’m with you on this one too.

I haven’t yet looked at Soundbooth, so maybe it will be more useful than it sounds – but I’m not hoping for too much.

As a longtime (if occasional and image-oriented) CoolEditPro and Soundforge user, I too welcomed the increased integration and interface alignment that the Audition branding promised.

It looks like a backward step for Adobe as a pro app suite, unless as you indicate Audition continues in the Pro bundle …

So far it does not have multitrack and you can not rip audio from a cd. The two most important things in my audio workflow. This sucks if they don’t add these features. Not to mention if you want to fix your 5.1 audio!!! The price for the bundle better decrease due to taking features away!! This is rediculas.

You guys are funny. What in the world makes you think it would replace Audition?

It is a simple tool for simple tasks, and is designed for people who think Audition is too complicated. I might be convinced that it would replace audition in the Standard Edition, but not in the Pro Edition that I use.

I do not have an issue with Soundbooth. I have an issue with it replacing Audition in the video collection. I just read the review of Soundbooth with Tim Wilson and it states “shipping in 2007 and replacing Audition in the Adobe Production Suite”. I don’t know what part of that would imply that it will stay in the premium package (which many of use). If Soundbooth was geared toward the standard video colleciton I wouldn’t care since I use the premium package, but I have not seen any information that would would indicate otherwise. Maybe you know something I don’t Steven.

Audition is a great application for audio-centric pros,

I stand corrected. I was wrong. The press release does say that it will replace Audition on the Studio. That is just stupid. There must be a groundswell of protest or we will all be sadly cheated.

Perhaps the press release is wrong? I sure hope so.
