I don’t think the Press release is wrong. They mentioned it twice in the same release.
They should offer Soundbooth as the stand alone and leave Audition in the studio. I think people would be ok with that. Kind of how Smartsound is offered.

It appears they aren’t going to discontinue it, just make it a standalone product, like I said previously probably to increase the bottom line, anyone who gets a newer upgrade product will get the handicapped piece of junk, since you are upgrading the older software will be made invalid, so if you want better audio software you will have to buy Audition separately, probably a MBA pimple scheme.

I know, let’s give the professional customers less functionality in order to make sure we pander to the lowest level of customer operational ability.

Then, let’s offer Audition as a standalone product that will compete directly with ProTools………brilliant!!!

The dual-system sound thing is definitely a hurdle, but I haven’t heard of anyone who can trim media in the same situation without “baking” the sync timelines with an export of the combined clips, duplicating media.

And that option is available to any current user of PPro right now…

I’m sure someone must have a solution for this on some other editing product, but no one has pointed it out to me.

…I don’t get the Audition move either, frankly…but getting started on an “everything Adobe does is stupid” rant doesn’t help identify any issues or solve them. Adobe knows this thread is here, they don’t operate in a vacuum.

I too do not want to see Soundbooth take the place of Audition in the Premuium Production Studio. The beta version is totally mickey mouse. Infact, even Audition could do with some more features so it can be integrated into a true proffessional A/V workflow. Where did Adobe get this idea that Audition is hard to use? They should stop wasting thier resources on reducing functionality and put some more effort into supporting the same professional production formats that other applications like FCP and Protools already support. Professional standards such as OMF, DVCPRO (HD). Or are they trying to lose thier professional customers?
