Thanks Ryan, that’s what I was thinking. It’s a good feeling to know I was correct in my assumption. Maybe some of this stuff is starting to stick to the walls of my cranium!!

  • WOW! Thanks John & David! Both of your replies are incredibly informative and helpful. Well, it’s kind of a relief to not have to worry about financing a new PC AND new software. I’m happy with SVP, I understand the workflow and how to do most of what I want to do so now if I can get the components figured out I may be OK.

I checked out the VG DIY9 build and it looks impressive. I also checked out your build John and priced it using today’s prices via PCPARTSPICKER.com. Nice machine!! Now that you’ve had it for awhile and have gotten it burned in, is there anything about the build you would have done differently or would like to change?

One more question I’ve got is: Would you recommend staying where I’m at with SVP, moving on up to VP12 or waiting until VP13 comes out then decide?

    Thanks guys!

You’ve got a blue light on the FSM right? Are you getting levels in the Presonus Universal Control app? I had lots of problems at first getting audio to appear, but once I got it, it’s worked pretty well for me. (I’m using the full sized Firestudio interface.)

I’m using an HP HDX16 with an Intel Core2 Duo 2.26GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, and Vista 64 for the OS. It’s been working great for me now for about 2 years. It has an ESATA port, HDMI out, Firewire, and 4 USB ports. I’m really enjoying it.

So guys, now that you’ve had the freebies for awhile, are you happy with what you picked? I’m in the same dilemma and am having trouble deciding. I had about decided on the Seminar Series then thought, “Well, I’ll probably get more use out of the Sound Effects “when” I use them. I don’t do a lot of that type thing right now, but who knows about the future…

  • Thanks John. I figured that was the case. And sorry about the wrong Subject for this. I’m still getting used to posting on the Cow.

I had typed up a question about an error that a friend had received trying to view one of my videos online but I got interrupted and forgot to post it. When I came back in a few days later and signed in to my account here the old message was still there. I didn’t need an answer to that so I just deleted it and posted the new question. For some reason the Subject wasn’t visible when I retyped the message. I should have known it was going to cause a problem…

  • OK, thanks to John Rofrano who responded to another post that I had mistitled but asked this same question. The answer is apparently no you can’t. You have to make sure the formatting is correct to begin with otherwise spend time going to each element and changing properties and attributes. Sorry for this second post on the same topic.

Cool! Keep us updated as you continue to use this please. I’m looking at this processor to build a new machine in the next couple of months. What video card did you go with?

Thanks DSE, I finally have an update to issue #2 that was driving me nuts. What I discovered is a switch in the Preferences window, under the Display tab. It says “Automatically hide docking area”. When I un-check it and then click in the track area my Video Preview stays visible. Of course I did have to re-save my Single Monitor layout again. I KNEW it had to be a setting someplace. Thanks!

    John,
Thanks for that. I actually found that tutorial Friday evening and started a new project to try it. I still couldn’t get it to work, but I was so punch drunk from working on it by that time, I probably didn’t follow the instructions to the letter. I’ll try it again in the morning. I just put it aside for the weekend to clear my head a little bit. Thanks again!
