    New build completed with no hitches other than having the most expensive purchase being a new copy of Windows 7 64-bit professional:0

    Used the new render test posted on the Sony forum to test out my system. It’s 5x faster than my old Pentium Dual Core without taking advantage of the preview ram, 6x if I do!

    5:46 with 350mb of preview ram (default)
    4:58 with 2gb of preview ram.
    4:56 with 4gb of preview ram

    Phenom II X6 with 8gb DDR3 dual-channel ram and dedicated Sata 3 7,200 rpm drive with 32mb cache.
    No overclocking and no CUDAS….. yet:-)

    P.S. The poster who flagged the need to restart Vegas after renders and Preview Ram changes was right on the money, thx,

    Cool! Keep us updated as you continue to use this please. I’m looking at this processor to build a new machine in the next couple of months. What video card did you go with?

    Nice work, looks just like the system I built a couple months ago except with more ram, which I’ve been meaning to get. My only mistake was thinking “Oh I’ll just get onboard video because Vegas doesn’t make use of any GPU acceleration” Then a few weeks later they released the details of Vegas 10 and what do you know, GPU acceleration! Oh well, it’s still significantly faster than the e8400 core2duo I was coming from, and now another guy in our office uses that system for doing a lot of standard def and web content videos, so it all worked out.

    Right now I’m using the MOBO graphics card, an ATI Radeon HD 4250. I have a ASUS GeForce 450 on the way with 196 CUDA Cores.

    The system does a fantastic job in preview mode play and ram preview with 2gb allocated to preview. Tested a twenty-second clip with 4 AVCHD video tracks, credit roll, generated media with four sound tracks on. Kinda looks cool and sounds like chaos:-)

    Preview= 480X270X32 23.976
    Display= 390X219X32

    V1: Credit Roll with animated add noise (none to max).
    V2: Film affect, Color Curves, Color Corrector, Chromakey,opacity 63%
    V3: Animated Radial Blur (none to max), Opacity 46%
    V4: Animated Film Affects (None to very old) Film Opacity 63%
    V5: Animated Sharpen (none to max), opacity 32
    V6: Liner RGB generated media, animated B/W none to max.

    1:10 to build the ram preview (preview auto).
    Play without ram preview is essentially realtime with a few dropped frames <1-per-second.
