January 10, 2015 at 3:08 pm in reply to: UltraStudio Mini Monitor Stuttering Plaback[Jeremy Garchow] “I assume the output format and frame rate match the timeline format and frame rate?
Also, try an uninstall and reinstall of the drivers.”
Yep, everything is 23.98 and ProRes 422.
And yep, I uninstalled and reinstalled the Blackmagic Desktop Video. Sorry I should have mentioned that.
Thanks for the ideas though!

January 10, 2015 at 5:16 am in reply to: UltraStudio Mini Monitor Stuttering PlabackHey John,
Thanks for the response, I have been thinking that will be my future solution. If you don’t mind sharing, what monitor did you folks decide on for the 4k monitoring?
Thanks again,

January 7, 2015 at 11:54 pm in reply to: can I freeze a frame of an FCPX lower third template?Depending on the title template you are using you may be able to turn off the build. Drop the title into the timeline and then look at it in the inspector. Under the “Title” tab if you have the options of “Build on” and “Build off” just uncheck those. That will stop the animation from happening.

To be honest I am not sure since I have been using Animation. Maybe Avid DNxHD?

The problem here is that ProRes4444 doesn’t recognize alpha correctly. You are getting that black because it was most likely rendered with a “Premultiplied” alpha channel. You need to switch it to a “Straight” alpha channel. However if you have done this and rendered to ProRes4444 you will still get that black, because ProRes4444 doesn’t recognize the Straight alpha.
So what’s the solution? Render to the Lossless codec with “Straight” alpha. You will need to render after import, but the alpha will be correct and the black will be gone.

Thank you so much for pointing this out. I have had this going on for a few projects now and didn’t know what was causing it. I thought I was going crazy wen all of a sudden I would look up and find I am editing in a different project than I though I was.

Hey Michael,
Thanks for the response. The compound clip is a single mono channel. So I guess the drop is the fact that it is splitting it to 2 stereo channels?

I had this issue the last time I upgraded Event Manager X and was given the following instructions from the AE folks.
Go to your Library/Application Support/Assisted Editing folder. There you will find 2 files. Event Manager x.plist and Event Manager X.yml delete them both and relaunch the app.
This of course may be a completely different issue related to Mavericks, but it might be worth a shot.
