    Hey,

If the media is online (i.e. linked) then exit the AVID software and go into your avid drives. dont copy the OMFI folder instead copy the contents and paste into the OMFI folder on the drive you want. Once you’ve done that delete all the database files on the effected drives (old drive and new drive) and then load the AVID programme. When the avid scans the drives and rebuilds the databases it will see the media on the new drive and link the clips.

Worked for me the other week.

    Hi

What about using a edge wipe on the glow title. They can be ‘softened’ in the effect editor.

    Hi

As the guys said inversion is the import option to use, however you can import a PSD file with transparency. Just add an alpha channel in photoshop and when you go to save you will see that as well as layers being checked in the save options that alpha layers are too. just be carefull AVID has real problems with premultiplied alphas, so if your trying to take in drop shadows etc, you will need to do a little painting after adding the alpha in PS.

    Hi Guys

I dont know about newscutter sorry.

Regarding the typing values to jump in the timeline. The value you type in depends on whether you have the AVID set to stop on head or tail frames. For example i have mine set on head frames, so to advance exactly 5 seconds i would type + 424 (25i PAL Project). If i were to set it to stop on tail frames i would type the standard + 500.

November 14, 2005 at 3:07 pm in reply to: 2 camera interview

    Hi

I think i read some where that it should be a 45 degree difference in the camera angle.

This works really well if you desaturate / add grain / increase contrast in one camera, preferrably the one that takes the “non standard” framing.

If you shoot one head on or just off centre and place the second camera at 45 degrees, you could pull it wide enough to show the mic, crew, lights etc with the effects above applied etc, i find it adds a nice effect if done well.

Another nice option is to elevate the secondary camera, so as to view the interviewee from above (not if they are follically challenged though).

No need for dissolves or wipes or anything in the cut (unless you want to), a straight cut or PIP’s work well with both of the above.
