Is there a quick and easy way to wipe on a title with a glowing edge – almost a type-on effect? My first thoughts were to create one layer of normal text and another layer of glowing text above it and use crop to create the desired effect. The problem is that I can’t put a soft border on the crop.

I have Sapphires and BCC if there is a filter that will help.

    Thanks!

    Hi

What about using a edge wipe on the glow title. They can be ‘softened’ in the effect editor.

right method – but either use animatte if you have it on the second layer for a good soft edged travelling matte or a soft edged circular wipe

whichever way you go add the effect on top of the defocused text layer on the same track, then, if you need to strenghen the effect just dupe the layer.

try defocusing only verticaly on one of the layers

You could also use Boris Graffiti or Red (or Avid FX if you have the Studio Toolkit HD). If you can do it with built-in tools, that’s always best.
