    Hey Bob,

Yeah that makes sense. All my drives are stripped as one partition and the project was pretty big with pre-computes.

So far so good though, although i will try to monitor project sizes etc in the future.

I usually as a rule try to keep each job small, however in this case they asked for 2 alt languages, and the original 20 min programme was about 50% matte keys.

    Yikes

Spoke with Avid support, and had to wipe everything / start again.

    Drastic but it worked.

    Thanks for all contributions

    Hi

I am as many people here will be, all too familiar with this problem.

As you may know straight alphas are nasty and do not provide a “clean” key, however at the same time the AVID really doesn’t know how to deal with a premultiplied alpha.

By what you’ve said you know this already, and sadly until AVID get their act together on this, you will have to (at least to my knowledge) resort to things like swapping fills or take footage into AFX.

If you do go with the later at least (file size permitting) you can export 1:1 from adrenaline and render back as an uncompressed meridien quicktime, and wont loose too much.

Lets all hope AVID make some changes regarding alphas soon.

Try rendering your animations in AFX with deinterlace flicker, try 0.5 for softness.

If you have animate in an AVID, then you can achieve this without using after effects or combustion.

It is however a painstaking process to say the least !

    Hey

    Yeah its not great.

Im staff editor with a corporate prod house.

The broadcast market here is bad to break into. but if your midlands, you may be wise to look for a facilities house and get in as editors assist. Its a good way to make contacts and a CV.

    Good luck !

    Hey David,

I too am in the UK, and i haven’t seen much on the net to support UK editors, except for the COW, but that is a truely global cow-munity.

There certainly aint anything in Scotland !!

    Jason

Yes pretty much. I will open the media tool, do a select media relatives on the sequence, reverse selection and delete.

Another little nugget in the console is renaming the files on the media drives.

Type the command “renamemediafiles” and all the files in the media drives will reference the names given in the bin.

    Cheers

    Of course

Sorry i wasn’t thinking properly yesterday.

The PIP would have to go over the animate, but both would i think need to be stepped in below V2.

I will check it out on my machine today and drop you a post.
