    Hi guys,

I am probably the exception here, in that i am working on PAL. therefore the de-interlace preset to jump down from 29.75 to 24 fps isn’t too much help. I have Adrenaline 2.1 digitising at 1.1 10b mxf. I want to give the video filmed on 25i a nice rich tone and feel that you can only get with film, i know colourising it is a major part but what is the best plug in to use to affect the way it looks, and are there presets that achieve this, please note i am looking for a subtle effect.

    Thanks i advance

    Hi Beth

We use both Adrenaline and Discreet Edit 6 here.

Like everyone has said, both systems have their good and bad points, and you will have a period of adjustment to make.

I learnt originally on an old AVID system, then Edit 6 then Adenaline, so it was somewhat different for me.
The big benefit with the AVID is that it has more features/effects than edit, and also that the AVID “language” is a an almost universal one, with only minor operational differences between each variation.

You will find it relatively easy to change if you map the AVID to perform functions as they would in edit, and there are some things like selecting and deselecting all tracks that are similar. Where u will find a big change is in not having a specific “title” or “motion effects” track, and indeed the whole workings with effects is considerably different.

Anyway u will have a whole bunch of folk here on the cow, who have used both systems and will be only too happy to help

Good Luck and welcome to the world of AVID

    Hi There

Bob’s right you want to wait until your projects are off the system, however sometimes workload and so dictates that you never have a time wth no active projects such as i have to encounter.

If you do upgrade the software then my advise is to backup the composer projects and users folders, just incase it all goes pear shaped, and also once the upgrade is completed go into your media drives and delete the database files (not when the Adrenaline software is running). The reason for this as i have found out with Adrenaline upgrades at least is that if you have media in the system when you upgrade, the media tool will not see it after the upgrade. So deletign the databases and loading the software will force the link to be re-made.

Hope that is of some help

    Hi

    Yes you can.

Open the command palette and the keyboard setting (so you can see what buttons are free).

At the bottom of the command palette the radio button for button to button assignment should be highlighted, you need to change that to button to menu item.

Once you change that click on a free button, the cursor should change, and then go to the drop down menu that you want and click on the item (i.e. audio editing etc etc)

    That should do it

    🙂
