  • Can you not offset your SWF layers by one frame?

  • There’s a button on either the composition panel or the timeline panel that turns off interactive previewing. I forget exactly where it is because it’s not present in current versions of the software. If you show me a screenshot of your project with timeline and comp panel visible, I can probably point that little toggle button out to you.

.rar is a file compression format – not a plugin format. Twitch doesn’t come from Video Copilot as a .rar file. I’m guessing you didn’t get this copy of Twitch from Video Copilot. So, it’s likely to have issues if it’s not a legitimate version.

Are you looking for someone to teach you how to do the effect or are you looking to hire someone to do that effect for you?

Use the Channel Blur effect. Blur just the alpha by something like 100.
Then, apply the Levels effect. Change the Channel dropdown at the top of the Levels effect to Alpha. Crush the levels effect so that the three triangles are somewhere in the middle. Alpha Input Black to 132 and Alpha Input White to 142 – for example.
Those values will give you a very round corner on your image. The amount of blur in the Channel Blur effect will determine how rounded your edges are.

Another built-in effect that might come in handy is Foam. It can create bubbles that reflect the layer they’re placed on.

If you want each individual bubble to have a different part of the clip though, it’s not going to work. You’ll need Particular from Red Giant for that.

That sounds a bit odd. That tool should just work. Can we see a screenshot of your timeline with the scale property you’re attempting to apply it to revealed? Or maybe (even better) a project file without your assets stripped down to just the comp demonstrating the problem?

October 8, 2019 at 12:10 pm in reply to: 3D hair replacement for live action scene.

The way Element 3d handles its 3d world would make it very difficult, if not impossible, to use it for hair. Plus getting it to look like it’s blowing in the wind or animating at all besides rigidly following the motion of the head would be impossible.

I’m also thinking that, even with a dedicated visual effects person who knows 3d hair simulation this could be a very difficult challenge.

That said, do you have any examples of how the actor looked with the correct hair length vs. the new hair length so we can have a better idea of the problem you’re dealing with?

Yes! You can use sourceRectAtTime() to drive the size of layers by other layers. Evan Abrams has some handy tutorials on using it.
