  • I’m combining the animations with some other layers in After Effects, so it’s being run through Cineware and exported via Media Encoder. The weird thing is no other materials have any issues with changing colors, just this aluminum material. So weird.

  • Thanks! Experimenting with different settings. I appreciate the help

  • Thanks for the response! I just tried repeating the process with the “high quality” option unchecked. Thankfully, the spinning beachball didn’t appear, and it may have actually worked. For a moment, it looked like the quadrant of the car had been successfully cut out. However, as soon as I tried to change my camera angle to be sure, everything disappeared (but only due to slow rendering, the layers/objects are still all there). I’m rendering it in After Effects and will see how it turns out.

Would you know a better way for me to cut a square out of the back right quadrant of a car model? I’ve been going crazy researching a way to do this. Unfortunately, C4D Lite doesn’t let me use the knife feature, which would have been my 2nd option.

  • Ah, fixed! knew it would be something simple since the shapes weren’t appearing upon exporting. Thanks for the help!

  • Also, I just noticed how “Demonstrate” and “cultivate” are cut off and look like “demons” and “cult” – I am not designing something crazy, I promise! 🙂

  • Thanks for the help! I will request the pixel dimensions from the tech team and base the frame size upon that. I will have different files for each individual screen that I will map out using MadMapper.

  • Thanks again for the quick response! I really appreciate the help and it has been useful. I am going to try out a few of these ideas and see what happens. 🙂

Tensator’s productions are actually what I am basing this project on, so basically the same thing but a cruder DIY version. I plan on using this in a live environment to display during a conference event. I thought about Pepper’s Ghost but that seems unnecessary. I will be using rear projection but I don’t believe a mirror is necessary. I will use Photoshop to create an outline of the assistant’s body after I film, chroma key and remove the background. Then I will scale the outline to match the exact height of the assistant model and cut an outline using clear rear projection film with a frost tint so that the light doesn’t completely pass through. I will also probably have to adjust the brightness to enhance the effect. Maybe I will just use black gaffe tape to cover up the areas on the projector lens where I know no content will be (other than the black background in the video).

    How does that sound?

Oh, and I was going to use a DLP projector for higher contrast with “ultra short throw” distance and at least 2000+ ANSI lumens, unless someone has a better suggestion as to which projector to use.

    Thanks again!

I think 40% sounds pretty good. I’m about to test it out now.

I had frame-blending off, as I’ve heard from many people that it’s not what you want to do when trying to achieve slow-mo.

There is a settings menu where I believe I can manipulate those things.

I did have one more question though. Would I import the 60i clip direct from the tape into FCP as a 60i clip (by going into the AV settings and changing the import from 24pa to 60i) or would I import it as 24pa? (This may be a dumb question, but I just want to be sure).

    Thank you for the help!

  • I have a bit more information that I left out.

The 24p normal footage runs at 29.97 progressive, and I need to convert this to 23.98 progressive so that it mixes with the footage I shot at 24p advanced.

I’ve heard something about reverse telecine in cinema tools, but I have no idea how to work this, or even if it is the right thing.

    =[
