Yes, this is a must, but use instead 720×536, this is better for DV resolutions. After you convert the image to 720×480 they will look wrong in PS but fine in FCP.

You do want to set the dpi to 72 and not 300.

I would use ProRes and 720×480 resolution (the default is 720×486 but DVD is always 480)

But you may want to look into using Motion or AfterEffects to put this together.

If your system can handle the HDV-to-ProRes on the fly conversion I think that is the best. It helps with editing speed, Like you mentioned test this before you go live. If that doesn’t work you just record the HDV signal as is.

Not all that bad, IF you know what to do, must people will find this more than a nuisance.

How do you know which players have this problem (which is not a problem since you are going against spec, buttons should just somewhere) have you tested every player on the market? How you tested this in every software player with every OS that have been available for the past 15 or so years?

But this sounds this is more like a personal challenge, which is fine, if you succeed more power to you. This is a lot of effort to make a background video to continue. I hope you are getting paid by the hour to do this.

But for everyone else out there, author disc as within spec to assure the widest compatibility, you own that much to your client. Creativity needs to take in the boundaries of the format and work with it.

AJA still supports the SD Io, does see them not supporting anything in use. Their customer support is 2nd to none, relax, this is a non-issue.

I find the 17″ too small but that is just me. But I don’t care what other people find comfortable but they are not me. I would never buy anything smaller than a 17″, but I don’t fly a lot. Try opening a 17″ MPB on a plane.

720p @ 30 would be a better way to go. YOu are just deinterlacing the footage with the upres. Then if you need to go to tape the video card would add the duplicate frames if you need 720p @ 60p, (each frame is written twice)

ProRes is already on a PC, but in playback only. This devices pay Apple a huge fee to be able to write to ProRes, something the average person would not do. All I’m saying is, I wouldn’t hold your breathe for ProRes exporting on a PC.

Which high bitrate averages, always use CBR method, it is faster and better.

Use a 7.5 Mbps

If your footage is Progressive all the Deinterlaced settings are bypassed. (wish they would gray out).

With Compression you should be trying 20 min settings of your movie to see different results from your settings. When using CBR you can use shorter test segments. Try with frame controls off and one with down converting is a separate step before encoding to m2v.

Then if you are not getting good enough results try the other software listed. But at these high bitrates Compressor does a great job.
