That could be the reason. Does it have a 2 or 4 GB size limit, so that if you copy a large clip it segments it. Personally I would never you a drive that was formatted to anything other than Mac Extended. To back up files probably fine, as a media/working drive, not for me.

It is almost never recommended on changing the gop size or structure with m2v encoding.

Sorry but you haven’t read the forum very well. Down Convert before encoding to m2v.

We can do nothing with that statement, disappointing? what are you actually disappointed about.If you are not getting the results you want with Compressor, and you are test different setting you may need to spend some money on a better encoder.
As I have said before, compression is a art, there is more to it than dropping in a preset and hitting submit.

Most people are finding that down the down conversion before the m2v encoding is the way to go. I have gotten good results both ways.
But for ME CBR is the way to go, I have never seen a VBR match the quality of a high bitrate CBR. So you get 3 benefits, quality, speed and better compatibility of playback.
For DVD-R 7.5 is the max bitrate you want to use (and you need to be using ac3 for the audio)
I have an 8-Core 1st gen and I have never gotten encode times even close to that long, I would say 5-6x realtime is the most.

Normal I put to 2 Frame audio dissolve, still a pain but faster that keyframing.

DVDSP DOES NOT do BluRay. But the newest version of Compressor does.

You can make a DVD with 24p footage, so what is the problem.

I don’t see the AF100 being released sooner than NAB of 2011.
