have you tried using compressor. and what are you settings you are trying.

How does yousendit get you video into the ProRes codec?

Yeah, you don’t.
The only way to fix this is to add a pulldown to the 24fps footage. This will not be the cleanest since it has to make up six frames by combining two frames together to make a third frame.
You need to teach the camera persons running these cameras that if you are not seeing audio meters bouncing there is a good chance that you have a frame rate mismatch.

If the client is asking for something, why aren’t you charging for it.
First you need to find out what codec they want.
Then convert all the clips to that codec in compressor.
Put these files on a HD (unless you are working with only a couple of minutes writing to a DVD is so time consuming).Charge the client for all the time and resources needed to do this for them.

What you are describing is not offline/online editing. You have also not given any useful information. What is the length of the project, what is the codec it is already. If you are asking someone else to grade this they will want it in clips of individual cuts and not a single movie.

How do you expect a SD DVD player to play back HD content.
You have to convert the HD video to SD m2v for it to work, you have to author a SD DVD for it to playback in a DVD player.
If your compressor is only having trouble with this file the file maybe the issue. If Compressor cannot encode any file you may need to reinstall compressor but it needs to be fully uninstalled first.

to add to Steve’s Wow, are you seriously asking us to help you rip off software? What you are trying to do is stealing, plan and simple, black and white. Hopefully you will not find any help here.

Right, but well shot HD footage will look better than well shot SD footage. One major difference, there were no cheap SD cameras that shoot 4:2:2, to go up to from a DV camera there was a huge jump in price. Where as with HD, 5K gets you DVProHD @ 4:2:2, 10K can even get you a 10-bit camera. Unheard of in SD for under 20-30K. Then there is the real 16:9 cameras at the lower price point also.Also there is a benefit of shooting at higher resolution and reducing.
Saying there is a lot of mis-information is one thing, but you seemed to be implying that there is no benefit.
My point is simply that there is an answer for, “So why did you shoot in HD.” One that would satisfy the person that spent the money (which in fact is pretty much zero, since it cost no extra money to shoot and HD most flavors of HD).

If you shoot and grade HD footage well, it WILL look better than if it was just shoot on SD, especially if the SD was DV. Why do you think TV shows are still shot on film. The probably is most people think that shooting HD is a golden ticket, everything will look better no matter what you do.
Also just as there are different levels of SD, DV vs DigiBeta, there are also different levels of HD, HDV vs. HDCAM or AVC-Intra.
