I had a problem with compressor and the document did the trick. Needs to be followed closely, there is a lot more to compressor then just compressor.

Sorry, but DVDSP does not do standards conversions. Your assest have to be PAL or NTSC before you bring them in. DVDSP can author in both but not convert. You can do it in compressor before bring it in but Comp 3 is no way as good as Compr 4. BTY it is a very time consuming process. If you don’t want to upgrade to FCS2 to get Comp 4 think about Natress Filters he has the most recommend standards convert around only 1
    $100 I think.

  • Do you do an “Organize P2” on the firestore before copying the files over.

If you are going to a DVD why not make your timeline a 16:9 anamorphic and make a 16:9 m2v.

The quality lose comes when you try to fill a 4:3 screen instead of going to a letterbox.

I would use a 10 bit Uncompressed (720×486) anamorphic timeline. Make sure you don’t have the timeline recomform to the clip when you drop it in.

900 have more condensed record head 9 microns vs the Varicam;s 18 so the 900 gets 33 minutes on a Med cass. were as the Varicam gets 33 mins on a Large cass.

This is not the same on LP on DV that causes problems with playback and drop outs.

The 1200 and 1400 can playback both tapes.

This can get messy really fast. Why are these choices being made. If most of the footage is going to be shoot 24pN it will be 720P, but the only reason to shot it this way to to use a 720P @24P timeline (23.98) The variable rate will also translate cleanly into this 23.98 timeline. (if the HVX is set correctly). Then the last question would be why the 60P footage and then how much.

If you have found sand, then I would bet there is sand you have not found yet. I would get this thoroughly cleaned.

    Peter,

I think you would have to see a sample of both methods. If you get what you want real time it is going to be a hard sell, unless you see an improvement that you just cannot live with out.

I would be glad to do a test for you. If you want to upload a clip for me, I’ll slow it down for you and you can see if it is worth the time.
