This is not a FCP thing but a problem with FCP on your system (not pointing figures, just want to assure you this in not normal) Sounds like this is a refresh issue, maybe the trashing preference would solve this.

This is not a bad idea if the timecode was on Free Run and not Regen.

If on Free Run you can match the timeline’s TC to the first clip and then lay down each clip to match the timeline. When done you have a single movie file with black gaps where you stopped recording.

If you other camera was in Free run also you do the same for it using its own TC.

Then you have two solid movies that you should only have to sync up once. And you could do that with the in point or the aux TC method.

Of course the key is how TC was recorded.

No, why not downconvert via the Kona card and go out SD SDI to the deck. Timeline HD Kona downconvert to SD Anamorphic to Deck’s SD recorded.

You can record to P2 and Firestore or computer at the same time.

Described on pages 85-86 in UG.

Does anyone do this. I would be so scared since it is a blind process. Not verifying the data before clearing the cards is pretty nerve-wracking to me.

Why not do they downconvert via the Kona card and not the deck. This might provide cleaner graphics.

Are you rendering in the Timeline or exporting the sequence, if exporting how are you doing it.

When I want to change formats I export to Compressor from the FCP timeline. Make sure everything is unrendered before you send it.

Not to be simplistic, but why do you have to render in 10-bit? What are you trying to gain?
