  • I have never seen this happen within a clip, seen it when settings were wrong but the entire clip was like this. Different camera. different FS.

The Fix is normally playing the clips back on the firestore to the camera. Then record the clips to a tape (or in my case P2 cards).

Other thing to try is to play the clips from the FS to Log and Capture in FCP, set to non controllable device.

It would probably make more sense to post this in the DVDSP forum.

There are no important specs listed here.

For best playback of DVD-Rs you should never encode video higher than 7Mbps and audio should be encoded as ac3.

Are you talking about using a FireStore? The camera should be set on P2 unless you want to shoot in DV25 and have a tape backup. What camera, HVX200?

[Justin Smyth] “high standard DVD authoring program” and [Justin Smyth] “menu creation facilities” do not go together. High end authoring programs will assume you will be designing your menus and overlays in an outside program and just bring in the assets. These systems are very expensive and you didn’t give a budget.

Also DivX needs to be converted to m2v it be placed on a DVD and it would be much better to use the video source files if once again you are looking for high end.

If you guys are telling the truth you are in trouble, you have to learn the code of the rumor-mills, you NEVER say “I have…” it is “I’ve heard…”

But I have to say the multicam feature, as I have heard, can replace an entire production truck, up to 10 camera can be streamed to the iPhone with full raster HD via the new HD codec (IBSML), not only is it 10-bit but it upconverts everything to 4:4:4 color space and is a lossless compression scheme. Best thing is it is said to be only 25MB/hr.

We may need to cool it or the apple folks my come and shut down the Cow.

Oh, one more thing I heard, AT&T is going all satellite, no drop outs anywhere, no roaming, no international boarders. Turn it on and you have reception and internet everywhere and anywhere!

Even closer and more useful is Clown editing, were you can automatically have random clowns, that has wondered into the frame, removed and replaced with a person of your choice.

David, I think that photo is a fake, to run FCP you need at least the iPhone 3G but they recommend the soon to be released 3Gx. From what I have heard (from a source very close to Apple) is that they are all ready to release this but they are having problems with Compressor crashing if you get a phone call while encoding to H264.

Use 10-Bit Uncompressed, only slightly larger file size than 8-bit but why not keep all the color info you can.

I have read about issues using “NONE” the Uncompressed setting is just safer to use and there is no compression happening.

There will always be a quality lose when going to m2v files, they are highly compressed and you are going down from 4:2:2 color space to 4:2:0, the quest is to keep it as close to the original footage as possible.

    [Tracy Peterson] “2. Shot at 720 60P 2 Frames a second with 350 deg shutter “
I would see this is your issue, with this setting you are telling the camera to record each frame 30x. If you put the camera in 30pN (Native is the key) it will only record those to frame a second.

On your footage, trying using FCP’s log and capture (or something like that on another program) with the “remove duplicate frames” checked in the preferences. This will get you to the same place as if you shot on the pN mode. But pN would give you 30x record time on a P2 card.
