Note of explanation
Audio TS is always empty. DVD spec had an Audio-DVD standard that never took off, that required a player to be Audio-DVD compatible, very few were.
Even though this folder is always empty, it always needs to be there. There is no negative to having it there but some older players will not play if the folder is not there. So never delete it.
One of the scratch your head type of things, but it is confusing.

You can set the resolution of the component out to 480i when you are shooting in HD but you cannot change the aspect ratio, it is locked to NORMAL, which is widescreen. If you are shooting 480i you can set it to 16:9 or 4:3.

Not to be smart but why don’t you just launch DVDSP, go through a simple tutorial. You are asking how do I make a simple DVD but instead of learning the software you are just pressing buttons. You have bypassed the authoring stage of DVD authoring.
What you did in compressor is fine, you just need to take the video and one of the audio into DVDSP, use the ac3 for better playback.

[Tom Prigge] “The image on the TV was 4:3 and kind of squished looking.” This should tell you that it is a 16:9 image and you need a 16:9 Monitor, a lot of the new small LCD monitors handle 16:4 and 4:3 feeds so that is all you need.

WHere are you seeing the 404 size? Don’t trust QT player, bring it into DVDSP and the inspector will show the actual pixel size.

Kona card handles Zero rendering. The only way it would help with it you used it to capture on the video to a common codec with decks.While FCP can let you place different codecs in a timeline and let you play them, it is preview quality only and you will have to render everything. It would be much better to transcode the video with compressor vs letting FCP do it.

Don’t anything about high speed video but here is my though on what you have.
I think I would at least shoot 720p60p, thinking that a progressive frame is going to be clearer than 2 interlaced frames. You will also need at least a 500th of a second or faster shutter speed to stop motion if you want a clear image, even faster would be better.

Trevor, I would want to verify that I have copied the footage correctly before I had to delete cards, Dumping to a blind HD would have be worrying the entire time. I would definitely use to separate HDs if I went that route. By that is me.

When shooting multicam you really want to use similar cameras for more than just the codec issue addressed above by Don. The Sony and the Panny will probably look different and there will be more time needed in post to smooth these difference out.
The new Ki from AJA looks real promising but it is not cheap, probably will have $7-8K in getting two of them and they are not very mobile for handheld, but they can be used that way. It would be cheaper to match your cameras.

One thing to keep in mind, if you edit and add graphics to a Lettebox sequence, there is no going back to 16:9 cleanly, you have to up-rez if you need it. If you edit 16:9 it is very easy to Letterbox when mastering if that is requested.
Your DVD will want true 16:9 footage or else it will never look right on a widescreen TV.
DVD players can convert 16:9 to Letterbox for 4:3 TVs very well on the fly.
DVD player does not fit 4:3 Letterbox footage to a 16:9 TV at all, to get it to fit you have to use the TV’s zoom function and you are blowing up the image, not a pretty sight.
