    Hi,

I’m starting a project in Final Cut Pro with the following shooting formats –

    Sony EX3 @ 23.98
    Sony EX1 @ 23.98
    Panasonic HVX100 @ 23.98
HD Lipstick cam @ 30 MOS
    Handheld HD @ 60

I don’t have the format yet for the Handheld HD footage or the lipstick Cam HD. Is there such thing as a best workflow for FCP using all these formats? Is it helpful to transcode everything to Pro Res or at least use Pro Res as my sequence settings? And how much render can I expect? We do have a Kona card so hopefully that handles some of the render.

Kona card handles Zero rendering. The only way it would help with it you used it to capture on the video to a common codec with decks.

While FCP can let you place different codecs in a timeline and let you play them, it is preview quality only and you will have to render everything. It would be much better to transcode the video with compressor vs letting FCP do it.
