Re-encode with a smaller bit rate, longer GOP, VFR or all three.

YOu need a Mojo with v.4.6 and earlier from a 24p project to go back to tape. WIth v.5 yo don’t.
You can:
Export to After Effects and render in a 2:3 pulldown and bring back into a 30i project.
Create 24p DVD with puldown flags in the MPEG2 stream.

I wouldn’t worry about this in the offlne stage and let the DS processing do this. There is a de-interlace effect in DS as well as the option to render effects as frames and not fields.

Export QuickTime reference out of Xpress Pro, open in After Effects, render to the Avid Quicktime coded to the resolution of your choice, import back into Xpress Pro and output as needed.

I think it really depends on the kind of work you are doing as each system has advanatages and disadvantages for different types of work.
I work in film and 24p – nothing touches the Arenaline (or Film Composer) for metadata managent, control over all pulldown cadences, frame based work, in conext tracking of keykode (allgauiges) and all timecodes on a per frame basis, integration into a downsteam workflow for managing changes, audio, EDL with pulldown cadence for tape to tape color correction, autosync, autosequence, 1/4 frame audio resync, read audio timecode, are all features that I depend on for every project I do. Things atart evening out if these type of features are not of a concern or a priority.

You are running into the 2GB file size limit. Export as QuickTime reference which is just a pointer to the native media and resolution of the Avid project and encode from there.

AvidLogExchange supports FCP bartch files as well as CinemaTools log files for translating into ALE format. USe the FILE/IMPORT function for conversion.

V.4.6.5 of Xpress Pro fixes this problem. It was released two days ago. Please contact customer support for the update.

You could try a third party application like Retrospect to keep two environments in sync. I haven’t tried it myself, but in theory it should work.
