    Hi

I have some HD footage to edit. It was shot 1080i. I’m just the humble offline editor working with a Symphony but they plan to Online on either a DS or a Flame for colour grading.

They want to transfer to film and retain maximum resolution. The film transfer facility has asked for “Frames and not fields”. Can the DS do a good de-interlace without losing any resolution. I thought about adding a 100% motion effect and interpolating the fields but I didn’t really see any difference in the image when I did a test. I’m a little confused by the whole thing really.

I wouldn’t worry about this in the offlne stage and let the DS processing do this. There is a de-interlace effect in DS as well as the option to render effects as frames and not fields.
