Until it supports multitouch, I think it might be more work overall since it is more tiring to be holding your arm out all day to achieve the same function as a mouse or pen. With multitouch, using a mouse/pen and a hand will make things very interesting. I would also lay the monitor down flat to reduce fatigue.

That’s becuase the source clips are not of the same duration and they all don’t start at the same time based on the sync reference between them. Just trim out at the black at the head of the sequence. I wouldn’t worry about the black in the source.

Ah – so you are looking at motion resolution – in your case to reduce the motion blur for creating stills. Yes, a faster frame rate or shutter sspeed will reduce the amount of motion in an image – at a 24p frame rate, increased shutter speed will start to look like the fight scenes in Gladiator or the battle scenes in Saving Private Ryan when played back.

Expert render only renders the minimum it needs while taking advantage of not rendering what it can play back in real time. If you want to render everything, select “render in to out” instead.

As far as frame rate, I don’t understand your question. Frame rate is not really a quality selection unless you are only concerned with motion resolution. Frame rate is more a subjective selection based on content and the look you are trying to convey to the story.

I believe that is Panasonic’s way of indicating 25p capture but storing the files in a 1080i video stream – like a film transfer to 1080i/50.

Are you trying to work in a 24p PAL project or 25p or 25i? The 25fps stuff should stay in sync.

Don’t know if it’s a golden rule, but DV itself is not that reliable, and when combined with camera transports that aren’t built to deck transport specs can lead to other inaccuracies.

What is the project type? What is the frame rate of what you are trying to capture? As mentioned, it could be the .1% drift if working 23.976/24.
