What do you mean it lost frames? You are capturing a 1080i tape into a 1080i prokject amd you are losing frames?

If you want to edit in NTSC 23,976, just do a dowm convert and log timecodes ending in 0 and 5. Set pulldown csdence to NORMAL/STANDARD (2:3:2:3) and capture away.
Media Composer does not remove pulldown in HD like it does for SD.

Select timeline and do a transcoded to the DNxHD format of your choice. Once all media is HD, you can output to your master tape.

For $400 you would be better off upgrading to MC 3.5 with native support directly to the EX1 structure..
You are running into a codec issue, an upgrade to 3.0 would get you native codec support using clip broswer, v3.5 would eliminate the clip browswer step.

Make sure you have the proper settings in the Film/24p settings in your NTSC 23.976 project:
Cadence: ADVANCED or NORMAL (based on what was shot)

The still could be done in any project type, but the piece of video will be the one that drives the final decision. Progressive would be better considering your viewing path.

Could be semantics – 29.97 is the frame rate wheras 59.94 is the field rate unless you are in 720p…

DV25 is a compressed format around 5:1. 1:1 is uncompressed, thus the ~5x difference in file size.

The Avid User Guide goes into pretty good detail about PAL and NTSC film project set up and capture. Have you looked there yet?

That is the behavior for Adrenaline hardware based systems as far as green/green etc. for real time playback.
