I thought I was a hero by suggesting we shoot a recent project in HD and rented an EX1 to shoot everything. The editor copied all the footage files over and installed the Clip Browser software from Sony (2.5) and now it seems I’ve hit a road block. Seems the standard MXF for NLEs won’t play back when imported into my project. The other versions play back fine, but with the obligatory watermark burned in from Main Concept. Is there a solution I’m missing here or is it a $400 purchase of main Cocepts plugin? I’m running ver. 5.8 on a PC. Anyone hit this hurdle before or know of another way to get the media in to Avid? Thanks,

For $400 you would be better off upgrading to MC 3.5 with native support directly to the EX1 structure..

You are running into a codec issue, an upgrade to 3.0 would get you native codec support using clip broswer, v3.5 would eliminate the clip browswer step.

Or contact me, i’ve made something that can write EX files directly to Avid playable media (thus, NO import in Avid, just mediatool the clips into a bin)
Since you don’t need an Avid to convert the clips, it is very handy in the field to offload your clips.
