There is not automated way to use a directory name and populate a column with that metadata. On films I consult on, I have them name the bin the same as the directory, then I have them copy the folder name, then the following little known feature:
Highlight all the clips that pertain to that folder. As you move your curor on any of the clips under any of the columns, you will see it change to a text edit type cursor. Either in a custom column of your choice, or in Labroll or Camroll, you right click and you will see a menu entry to add this metadata to the . Select that and a little window pops up. Paste your clipboard content and click OK, It will be applied to all selected items.

In your scenario, there will either be a filename the SOURCE FILE column or you can enter the directory/folder name in the Labroll or Camroll column and that can be used in EDL later if needed.

The START timcecode in a 720p/23.976 project is 30fps with timecode adjusted for the native 24fps. If you recorded audio at 30fps NDF, then you should import it that way as well. If you want timecode adjusted for 24fps, then highlight the START timecode column and do a command-D or ctrl-D and select TC24 from the pop up window. The act of doing so will convert the 30fps to 24fps giving you a 1:1 timecode to the edit rate of 23.976.

I second what Job says. But then again, QuickTime can be a variable in how it declares its frame rates as well. One thing to look at is the Film/24p settings and make the edit rate 24 rather than 25 and see if that affects the rate of the QT export. I don’t think it does, but worth a look.

An example of a large project was Alice in Wonderland 3D that had over 5000 bins in a single project… not to mention how many clip in each bin and how many columns of metadata on each clip.

What version of Media Composer are you using? I don’t see a reason to use MetaFuze in this scenario. With v5, you can use AMA to directly access the 5D and 7D footage as well as the XDCAM. For I would create a base 25p project for your final sequence, but create 720p/50 projects for the slomo.
Once the 720p/50 stuff has been linked to, open those bins in your 25p project. Frame rate mix and match will kick in automatically so when you edit material intended for slomo, you need need to go to the effect parameters for each shot and set the rate to be 1:1 rather than adjusted. This will play it back as slomo, or even slower if you set the rate slower.
Once you get to close to your final, or final locked sequence, transcode the entire sequence to an Avid DNxHD format to easily prepare you for whatever output you need to provide for delivery.

Hmmm… I take an original .mov file from a Canon 5D shoot, process through MPEG Streamclip to QuickTime wrapped DNxHD then open both the original .mov file and the DNxHD.mov file in MoviePlayer and they are the same.
