Everything takes up some processing, so yes. How much? Hard to tell. Also, you might want to consider using the matte generator that’s available in the source, record, and full-screen playback so you don’t need to manage it as a top layer.

This is great to know. I might suggest specifically mentioning XAVC-S on the production description as XAVC-S has been a sore spot for Media Composer users for over two years now.

Does it have timecode or does it all start at 00:00:00:00?
Do all the files have unique filenames from day to day to day? Some cameras like to start naming the same way when shut down.Usually, this camera’s files are transcoded to either a finishing resolution like DNxHD 175x and edit and finish with the same files, or transcode to a lower bitrate like DNxHD 36 (which will be slightly larger than the camera masters) and then conform in whatever system you are finishing in if not MC/Symphony.
Transcode in a third party application like Resolve or EditReady 2 (https://www.divergentmedia.com/editready)
There is a workaround that if you change the extension to .m4a you can AMA link in Media Composer and transcode directly (still look to make sure all filenames are unique) buy it will lose the timecode if there is one being used other than 00:00:00:00 and will not work for frame rates 50 or higher.Michael

Try new user settings in case you didn’t do that when you updated the software.

You may need to change the edit rate of the project itself to be 29.97 in order for this to work. Look at the format tab in the project window for starters and try again.
As far as importing audio, is Media Composer prompting for a frame rate (as it should) in order to calculate timecode based on “sample from midnight”? And if so, is there a 59.94 option? I can’t recall myself.

There is no ability to import markers on source clips via a text file (ALE). It can be done via an AAF.

Also be aware that re-importing ala batch reimport assumes that the clip has not changed in duration, so make sure it is the original master clip that as first created. If not, Media Composer will force fit the source to the clip making it remove or add frames which is not a good look.

Any text editing application that shows invisible characters to ensure proper tab, space, return. So there are most likely the same tools on a PC. As far as Avid Log Exchange, you should be able to download an earlier version of the installer from Avid and install ALE only.
