The above is good advice for clips you’ve already imported, but it’s still best to properly prepare them ahead of time before import so that any lists generated (if needed) will track proper source channel.

How are the tracks named before import? Do they have their track number as the end of the file name? And when importing, are you selecting combine in the settings?

You should be “OK” as long as it is metadata that is transmitted via ALE, AAF, etc, and is not a field that would be used as a filename at the OS level anywhere in the process like export, etc.

Here is the most recent, available Avid whitepaper on Avid Metadata logging and management that has a section on ALE file creation. Unfortunately it does not describe any of the new metadata fields from 7.0.3 and later, but may be good enough for what you need to do:

It means that AMA is coverting the codec to frames and trying to send it to through the pipeline but it can create the sample map to do so. What is the codec of the 4K file as recorded by Atmos?
Do other apps play it like Resolve, MoviePlayer, VLC, Premiere, etc.?

You need to export a TAB delimited file, then edit the header to look like an ALE and add sections Column and Data. As long as the field names match those expected by Media Composer, you should be good. That means exact spelling and observing uppercase/lowercase.
