  • Are slashes “/” in archival date column OK?

    Hello,

Simple question: I’m entering data for archival material in Avid and I don’t seem to have any issues so far, but just double-checking that as I enter dates for archival clips in a custom column with this format – year/month/day (ex: 1945/02/21 ) – that there will be no issues later on with the slashes.

I usually avoid anything other than _ for punctuation in Avid, but I think in this case it is easier to enter and read with the slashes.

In addition, some of the data contains ” #’s” in another column for original file name. Will these be an issue?

    Thanks!

I would avoid using that character or any odd characters.

You should be “OK” as long as it is metadata that is transmitted via ALE, AAF, etc, and is not a field that would be used as a filename at the OS level anywhere in the process like export, etc.
