I would say the changes really started ~25 years ago when hard drives,albeit expensive started changing the way media was being manipulated from what was then all analog and the physical mediums that were part of their DNA. Since then, it has been smaller, capacity, and quality.

Sadly, no. You are not missing any setting anywhere to view a reverse motion in real time. Nothing to do with the whizzy new OS and platform, but with the way the video and VFX pipeline are built.

There are ways to deal with it:
If you want to automate a subclip process because you might want to get back to the other ISO audio channels, it can be done via an ALE export, text edit, merge back in as described in my blog here:
https://24p.com/wordpress/?p=200If you just want to dissacoiate the master clip from whatever tracks, it can be done with an “Unlink”, modify (Tracks), Relink” process as described here for AMA, but works for non AMA as well in this blog:

I have been using Slingbox for this purpose since Slingbox first hit the market. Upside – reasonable cost, good quality. Downside: only one person can sign in a a time due to re-broadcast restrictions.

As a test, what does it look like if you render the color corrected AMA linked clips to the same target resolution?

Try doing it all in the same effect. Apply the timewarp effect and set speed to -100 (type it in at the bottom of the graph) This will now be a reverse motion you can ramp back to 0 or + (forward).
You may need to trim head and tail to get expected original start and end.

You can render your clips to a folder and then AMA link to them using the QuickTime AMA plug-in from within Media Composer.

Are you rendering a timeline in Color as a single clip or a clip for every event? What are you rendering to codec wise?
