  • The closest thing to hardware assisted real-time is the new Gelato line from nVidia. It is capable of near real-time 3D layers, but it will not help with plugin rendering times. If you are doing a layer-heavy comp with a lot of text and layer motion then Gelato is a very, very fast alternative that might be just what you need.

Nope. Not as of today anyway. As a matter of fact, a spokesperson for Adobe made mention in an article in Post Magazine (August 2005) about the possible redevelopment of Premiere Pro for the Mac platforum if the processor switch is compatible with the Intel standard architecture. Clearly, that is not a statement that a company would make if further development was to cease with respect to other Mac-based products. Rumors are rumors are rumors.

If you’re even the least bit uncertain of the software’s origins, or if your “copies” are actual burned disks, there is already a possibility of you being in violation of numerous laws. To put it bluntly, if the seller didn’t expressely give you the effective license in writing or in the form of an original receipt, you can bet your butt that Adobe will not honor any request for a license as part of a computer purchase.

If you’ve got the sincere belief that they are legitimate disks, then a simple call to Adobe or a scan on their website will tell you ASAP.

    Kurt,
Sorry for the delay in a reply. It’s been a mess around here. If you search back about a month or so ago, you can find the official photometric data at the time of approval of the final design. It’s different depending upon the lamps chosen, but if you use the lamps that are sent out with it, the data is still accurate.
As far as the design, our lights are not like the Savage lights, but clearly the premise is similar. With the inclusion of E-26 bulbs the cost comes down exponentially and the flexibility for the “common man” is less costly making expansion realistic and affordable. I started my lights with a 4 bulb head that uses a unique bulb mounting scheme that amplifies the light and maximizes the actual fluorescent tube face. By mounting them in this way, we create a slightly brighter fixture with better long term continuity over a given period when compared to the

Rick, my man. You need a hobby. Funny thing is that I was doing pretty much the same at that time. I just discovered a new synth-duo called The Postal Service and I was listening to their album on-line. What a world we live in, huh?

Some common problems stem from and lead to slow RAM and/or a processor fault. I procured a new Dell Precision machine about three months ago and it had terrible problems with memory going bad or systematically not being recognized correctly. There can also be filters and effects that obviously work differently with diferent processor instructions and sometimes they need to updated and/or upgraded to work correctly with faster systems.

    Good luck…

A layer mask would set as little as a single pixel width line apart from the rest of the solid, or you could always create your lines in Photoshop and import them as a composition instead of a still to keep the transparency by turning off the background layer.

  • I was told that the highest resolution available for the largest monitor from Apple was around 2048 x something, but realistically, I have a pretty hard time coping with resolutions over 1600 for long periods.

Any other models come to mind off hand? Obviously those with the best and most accurate color, resolution and image definition would be terrific.

    Thanks again

  • That’s what I’ve heard from a few folks, but many say that Samsung, who apparently makes the screen components for the Apple products did a slightly better job of maximizing the screen’s potential. A tiny bit better contrast, a little more light output and claims of more adjustments abound make the side-by-side comparison impossible without them both together. The supreme irony is that even though many of the components are identical, the specs are a bit different and seem to elude that I’d need to see them both to decide.

What have you heard about the new Viewsonic LCD models that just came out a few weeks ago? The sizes are amazing, up to a 42″ capable of 1600 x 1200 (or larger I believe) with inputs for HDTV, computer and almost anything else. I can’t find any literature on them but Best Buy claims to have received them and are currently distributing them to the stores where they will sell…or so they say.

    Thank Chris.
