Hello everyone. I’m trying to create a thin, vertical randomly-moving solid over a larger non-moving stationary solid.
How do I make the moving solid transparent?… that is, as it moves, the area directly under it is transparent?
Thanks in advance for your help.

A layer mask would set as little as a single pixel width line apart from the rest of the solid, or you could always create your lines in Photoshop and import them as a composition instead of a still to keep the transparency by turning off the background layer.

Well, I sort of know what your asking. If you have the visual in mind, either mask that solid in a seperatapt comp and keyframe it in any way you see fit, or if you want a certain solid (logo, etc.) make it in photoshop and do that. I hope I have grassped what you needed correctly.
