Rendering?!
Hello,
I’m working on a pc that runs a P4 at 3.4 ghz and has 2 gigs of ram. However; my render times are still sooooo slow. I had it down once before and was rendering on a pc 3 times slower than this one and it would render faster?! Does anyone know a good tutorial or have any tips on setting up the memory usage and formats for rendering faster? I want to render full resolution and have a render farm set up that works good but this is still taking this pc days to render a 4 second clip. I know there’s something I’m missing but can’t find the answer anywhere. Thanks so much for any help.

Some common problems stem from and lead to slow RAM and/or a processor fault. I procured a new Dell Precision machine about three months ago and it had terrible problems with memory going bad or systematically not being recognized correctly. There can also be filters and effects that obviously work differently with diferent processor instructions and sometimes they need to updated and/or upgraded to work correctly with faster systems.

So on a PC this speed is it normal for it to take like 3 days to render? Also, it seems to use only 90,000k of memory and it has 2 gigs to use? Is there a good tutorial or site that I can walk through my settings for rendering. I keep rendering a tiff or psd sequence so I can use multiple pcs but that’s still taking days. I know something is wrong and there has to be a way to fix it…
