I work in DVPAL and 8 Bit Blackmagic, so can’t comment in regards to those specific codecs, sorry.

That seems to of fixed it. I’m left with another problem (which I had before, but hoped may be related), and that is one of Final Cut crashing an awful lot. Started a couple of days ago. Also very annoying, but not so bad as long as I save regularly. If it doesn’t sort itself out expect another post on the forum tomorrow (which’ll make it four days running, I think. Do I get a prize for that? It’s gotta be a record!).
Thank you everyone!

February 20, 2008 at 2:43 pm in reply to: 16*9 problems in FCP **Help** (about to throw myself or my mac out of the window)Probably a stupid suggestion, but to get all the footage to display in 16:9, have you selected them on the timeline, ctrl clicked, gone to Remove Attributes and then making sure Distort is ticked clicked Ok?
And are they all ticked as Anamorphic in your browser before placing them in the timeline? Scroll along in the browser window to the right looking at the column headings until you see the right one.

February 19, 2008 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Why is Photoshop 6 so rubbish on Intel based macs?Well, I’m sure it could be quicker, but it doesn’t crash.
I completely agree with all the comments that it’s ridiculous, to have this spec machine:
2 x 3GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
5GB RAM
512MB ATI Radeon X1900 XT
And run software so old I might as well on a base level G5…
So, no quick fixes, huh?
Like I said, the machine is new, but it pre-dates me working as online editor here.Still, thank you.
If anyone does know of anything that may help, I’d be very grateful. I suspect that getting this sorted is all a pipe dream though.

February 19, 2008 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Why is Photoshop 6 so rubbish on Intel based macs?I’d love to upgrade, but I’m not about to spend my own money on software for the company I work at. Especially the way they pay me…
So, there’s no update for Photoshop 6 that will allow it to work correctly on an Intel mac? What about 7? I really don’t think they’re going to enjoy me saying that we need to buy a new copy of CS3. As much as I’d like it to play with.
Just to add to the ridiculous nature of it, After Effects 6.5 works fine, if there was an update for that which stopped it working on my computer so I could get the new version of that, that’d be great!

It turns out I had a five second trail on after my inserts, just like Kim Rowley said, I guess this was reset by the 6.6.2 update for blackmagic.
Thank you all yet again, much appreciated!

My deck is a DVW-500P, I’m using a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme (6.6.2 Driver) and the Device Controller setting is Blackmagic PAL 25Hz.
Thank you!

Hi,
it worked for a bit, but I’ve had to change it to +6 for it to work now, and for some reason my insert edits have started to over-run by about 5 seconds, wiping black over the area after the out point.
Technology hates me!

Hi, sorry about the delayed reply.
After playing with the frame offset it appears to be playing out correctly. Thank you everyone for your help with this! My frame offset appeared to be on +5, I’ve found that +4 gets me the results I want. Is it normal to have an offset like this? It seems strange.
Still, many thanks, you’ve saved regional television in the Westcountry for me!
