Hi guys ive been looking at these forums for ages and have always found the answers i need so here goes. I am editing a music video which was shot is SD 720*576 anamorphic. I am pulling a key with the footage and that causes a problem with DV as we all no. So the work around i have used is to upres the footage 1440*1080 and pull the key with the up ressed footage. But when i try and bring that new footage into FCP i can play it and cant edit with it as my computer can handle the data rate. (painfully annoying) so i have the taken all of this keyed footage into compressor and converted it all back down to 720*576 16*9 with the animation codec. But when i import the footage into FCP it only displays as 4*3 i can change the sequence settings to get one clip aspect ratio correct but when i am multi-clipping all the other clips stay as 4*3. which i dont get as in compressor i made sure they were PAL CCIR (601) 16:9. Can anyone help me figure out how to get 16:9 footage out of compressor without cropping my footage?

thanks in advance for any help. apologies for any spelling mistakes

Probably a stupid suggestion, but to get all the footage to display in 16:9, have you selected them on the timeline, ctrl clicked, gone to Remove Attributes and then making sure Distort is ticked clicked Ok?

And are they all ticked as Anamorphic in your browser before placing them in the timeline? Scroll along in the browser window to the right looking at the column headings until you see the right one.

You can drag the anamorphic checkbox in the file browser across to the left so you can easily tell FCP what aspect ratio multiple files are – any of the many columns in the file browser can be ‘reordered’ in this way.

    Hope that helps.

Hey guys, thank you for your posts. I just couldnt get round it no matter what i did. i tried everything you said but to no avail. it seems as if there is some problem with multiclipping in the animation codec. (probably something obscure that i have done) The only way i have been able to manage it is to re export everything as DV from motion and that works fine in FCP and multiclip. Thanks anyway guys. now my problem is going o be encoding the vid to present well on the net as it is a white back ground and a lot of black text (not good)

    Thanx
