There you go. Copy everything off, repartition the drive using disk utility. Name the new partition the exact same as now and when you copy everything back you shouldn’t have any reconnection issues.

Disk Utility > Repair Disk. Maybe a bad sector on the volume?!?

Maybe preference files? Can you replicate the same thing with a different user? Compressor has prefs just like FCP, if this doesn’t happen for another user on the same machine, then you can just trash them.

Or skip the testing step and trash away… Users > [yourusername] > Library > Preferences > com.apple.compressor.Compressor.plist and com.apple.Compressor.CompressorSharedService.plist. might be a place to start. And repair your permissions on the boot volume using Disk Utility. (also noted in the below KB Article)

    A true Compressor reinstall is a pain…https://support.apple.com/kb/TS1888

    Remove and reinstall Compressor
To reinstall Compressor effectively, you need to remove the application, its receipts and associated files, then install Compressor and use Software Update to install additional updates. Follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Compressor. Note: Make sure that you have the installation discs for the application that Compressor was bundled with and the serial number handy before starting this.

Use Finder to remove the following listed items:
    /Applications/Apple Qadministrator.app
    /Applications/Apple Qmaster.app
    /Applications/Compressor.app
    /Applications/Utilities/Batch Monitor.app
    /Library/Application Support/Apple Qmaster (the folder)
    /Library/Frameworks/AECore.framework
    /Library/Frameworks/Compressor.framework
    /Library/Frameworks/MediaServerAPI.framework
    /Library/Frameworks/Qmaster.framework
    /Library/Logs/Qmaster (the folder)
    /Library/PreferencePanes/Apple Qmaster.prefPane
    /Library/Receipts/Compressor.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/ProMediaIO.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/Qmaster.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/Qmaster_Frameworks.pkg
    /Library/StartupItems/Qmaster (the folder)
In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
    Type the following path:
    /usr/sbin/
    Click the Go button.
Locate the following items from that Finder folder, and drag them to the Trash:
    qmasterca
    qmasterd
    qmasterprefs
    qmasterqd
In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
    Type the following path:
    /var/spool/qmaster/
    Click the Go button.
If there are any folders inside the qmaster directory, drag them to the Trash.
If you have Motion installed, drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash.
From your install disc, reinstall Compressor and Apple Qmaster (and Motion, if applicable).
When finished, use Software Update (under the Apple menu) to update your software to the latest version.

    Good Luck…

Permissions maybe? Check to see if you are ignoring permissions on the volume with ‘Get Info’ (Apple+I).

Try setting your canvas zoom to an even 100% or another evenly divisible percentage (50%, 25%).

I use ‘Clip Enable’ (Ctrl+b) to temporarily turn off clips, not exactly the same, but kinda.

  • You need to copy the file to your hard drive and THEN import to FCP. Final Cut only references the files you import, it doesn’t do the management. You should also name the file before you bring it in to FCP. Good luck.
