    Hi,
I think I see what’s going on. I was trying to rotate a full screen graphic using several rows of cards, and when I see the back, the individual rows are rotated correctly thereby creating the misaligned logo on the back side. Physically this makes complete sense. So, the question becomes how do I then have a bunch of cards rotate and reveal a full screen graphic on the back side. It’s been a while since I’ve used CD to do this.

I’m using CS3, and the effect is at it’s default settings. I simply changed the X or Y rotation offset, to rotate the cards around, and the rows on the back side are mismapped.

    Hey,
I tried joints, and they are starting to work well. Unfortunately it looks really good at the top of the close, but once the geometry starts folding on top of itself, it gets out of control. I’m gonna keep working on it.

    Thanks Adam,
Joints might work, I’ll play around.

Are you working SDI? We bring everything in SDI. Can you elaborate on your workflow? Are you changing settings in the Blackmagic control panel? Are you changing settings in the Premiere project? I’m not seeing anything in either regarding additional audio channels, and the default is just a stereo pair.

  • Have you created a successful camera solve in Boujou?
Which version of Boujou are you using?
If you’ve created a succesful solve in boujou, you should have a bunch of predictions (yellow and blue dots that are locked onto objects in your scene. If you right click on some of these predictions, you can name them. How you procede next depends on what type of scene you are working with. If you need to create and entire 3D scene, you will need to define the planes of your scene – IE the floor plane etc. Then you will need to name enough predictions and export to create this environment. If however, you are simply adding something to your scene (for example a scene where a car drives by, and you want to ad a CG sign to the car), you will need to name some predictions where you want to add the CG. In the export dialogue in boujou, select export flagged tracks only. this will keep from exporting thousands of points. When you export from boujou in C4D format, you will get a C4D scene with a camera, and these exported points. Inside C4D, place your CG Element in space corresponding to the points you’ve exported. Make sure you are looking through the exported camera from boujou. Finally, add a background element to you scene, create a texture with your moving video and apply the video to the background. Everything should line up.

    Sincerely,
    Michael Goldberg

    P.S.
Anyone wanting to see some samples of the work I’ve done with Boujou can check out some scenes at http://www.meldingpot.com

  • When you import the boujou data into C4d, you will get a bunch of reference points. I would suggest only selecting the reference points you need (otherwise you’ll literally get 1000’s of points, and this will bog you down. It actually probably is ok in C4D, but really will slow you down if you composite in AE). These reference points will tell you where to place your 3D objects. So, if you are tracking a shot in boujou that has a window, and you want to place a 3D window into the scene, you will want to export a reference point for the window from boujou. Inside C4D, you atatch you’re 3D object to the ref point’s location. It should then track along with the scene.

    Hi Jan,
I found this document on adobe’s web site, and this helped identify where the problems were in the exported text file. Essentially I opened the text file in Excel, created a new column, cleaned up a few stray numbers, and deleted the name of the track. Once I did this, everything lined up correctly, and it imported correctly into AE. The boujou track is so much better than AE built in tracker, and worked like a gem for this particular purpose.
