I do have mograph, I was just trying to do it with Expresso. I’m trying to learn more and more with Expresso to improve my skills. It’s about 9 doors, I could do it in the timeline or mograph. I thought I recalled a tutorial discussing this type of thing, but I could be mistaken.

    Hi,
I’ve been able to use TP pretty easilly to freeze the particles the way I want. I have 1 cloud, and would then love to put that into a cloner object, but that doesn’t work with particles. Now that Ive got a good cloud, is there an easy way to create say 20 without having to go in and tweak my TP settings for each cloud?

Well, I think I know what it is. We are connected to a SAN, and the SAN has some type of read permissions which bog down both C4D, and AE at various times. We’ve let it go because it’s not tremendous. It seems with the hair material, it must somehow be looking in the texture paths for something, and that’s causing the lag. I can’t explain it yet, because I have no other materials in the scene. Only the hair material. When I delete the texture search paths in my preferences, the lag goes away. Strange.

Dynamics are off, and only display guides is on. I’ve even tried lowring the number of hairs to 1, and it still gives the 20 sec delay when I’m inside the hair material only. Weird.

I’ve been able to narrow it down to the hair material. If I make changes to the parameters within the hair object, no lag. When I open the hair material to make changes, I get the lag?

    Hi,
The render time is not the problem at this point, it’s some type of refresh problem happening. It actually renders fairly quickly. I will look at your suggestion as an alternative though,
    Thanks,

NVidia Quadro FX 4600, Software Shading used in C4D
