    Hi,
I’m using card dance for the first time in a long time. It seems that there is a bug? When I rotate my tiles, the back side image is mapped incorrectly. It’s not just flipped (which is fixed by precomposing), but the rows are mixed up on the back side. For example if I have 10 rows, when they flip, the image is not consistent for all the rows. The back seems to have certain rows mapped to other rows. I’m seeing this even at it’s default. Has anyone come across this?

There is a bug ver7.0 that would render garbage pixels if you have lots of cards. WHich version of AE are you using and perhaps more details may allow others to dig in and provide a more complete response.

I’m using CS3, and the effect is at it’s default settings. I simply changed the X or Y rotation offset, to rotate the cards around, and the rows on the back side are mismapped.

I doubt that the default settings are at fault. What else have you done with Card Dance. Select the layer and press “UU” quickly to reveal all properties that have changed from their default values.

Chances are that the cards are being affected by a gradient. Also try to rotate Card Dance’s camera to be certain that the problem occurs only on the backside.

    Hi,
I think I see what’s going on. I was trying to rotate a full screen graphic using several rows of cards, and when I see the back, the individual rows are rotated correctly thereby creating the misaligned logo on the back side. Physically this makes complete sense. So, the question becomes how do I then have a bunch of cards rotate and reveal a full screen graphic on the back side. It’s been a while since I’ve used CD to do this.

Yar, this is a tough nut. You can add 180 degrees of Z rotation but that only lines up the columns, they’re still out of position left to right.

I think you nail down your design very early and build the backside in PS as a series of repositioned slices. Tedious. I don’t see any other way to get the pieces to be where you want them to be. the only time I’ve ever used a backside on Card Dance was with solid colors. Or, if the backside was an image, it was usually part of a blow away-type of effect.
