    Interesting update,
so the projects I’ve been editing have been with original camera footage that is .MTS It seems for some reason when loading RAM takes a spike (this part makes sense), but when even just moving the playhead in the timeline the RAM spikes. So the MTS files are fairly large causing very large spikes in RAM. I then edited a bunch of clips that were H264 mp4s. Much smaller files, smaller spikes in RAM.
A workaround would be to use proxy’s, but it’s a lot of extra time, work, and storage to create proxys for 200 clips every time I have a big project.

    Hi Peter,
Yes, It should be pretty easy, I generally render out my 2D animation from AE as a quicktime movie (most people use a .tif, or .png sequence, I just prefer the .mov. your choice). Create a texture and put the .mov or sequence into the color channel (you can put it into the luminance channel if you don’t want it effected by lights). In the animation tab, you can set your frame rate etc. I’m pretty sure that defaults to the frame rate of the movie. There are some other options in there for looping, frame range etc. You can mess around with that to your liking. For more interest, you could then render out some items in 3D as a separate layer to give the illusion things are jumping off of the page etc.

    Good Luck,

    Hey Brian,
I tried this out on just a basic advanced biped rig. In adjust mode – components, I can adjust the chest controller, and this then moves all of the components that are controlled by it (ie shoulder, arms etc.). I thought I could adjust this up without moving my shoulders and arms which I spent a lot of time getting into place. When I switch to adjust controllers, the chest controller is not visible. Not sure why that is, but I’m sure it’s related to some simple stuff that I just don’t do much of. The 7 key is working when It’s not a controller.

    Hi,
Is it possible you’ve selected a Quicktime image format selected? These have different options than quicktime mov
Quicktime movie is towards the bottom of the list. This will give you options to the right such as compression type.

    Hi,
You can select all your polys, and select mesh/command/subdivide.
If you only want more polys in certain areas, you can use the knife tool to create more edges.

    Thanks Adam,
Yes, I tried steady bake with render instances off, didn’t work.
I coulndn’t get Nitrobake to work in V17, we asked for an updated license key, but never got one. It’s possible Lazaros is busy, or who knows. My v16 key doesn’t work in 17. Oh well, thanks for trying.

April 22, 2016 at 12:54 pm in reply to: Strange Object Buffer in Cinema 4d

    Hi Peter,
It looks like (based on the red solid) that might be a solid in your ae comp. If you put an external compositing tag in C4D, that will give you a solid for the object you tagged. It won’t consider anything else in the scene, just that object. If you use a compositing tag and set an object buffer, that should render out a white/black matte that will be occluded by other objects in the scene.

    There’s 2 things I would play with –
You can select the corner point of your profile spline and chamfer it, this will round out the corner.
If you’re not looking for that to round out, you could play with the subdivisions on your spline. It’s not perfect, but I changed the subdivision on the spline from the default adaptive to uniform. I then upped the points to about 100. You could also try changing the subdivision to subdivided, and play with this.
I don’t know if either of these ideas gives you what you want, but it’s worth a try.
