5 frames drift over what length?
If it is .1% then I would suspect a 24 to 23.976 error to be the issue.
I work in 25fps so such nightmares are avoided.

From memory, the DSR60 can have an optional SDI board. Perhaps the AJA needs to be looking for SDI from the switcher. Is the switcher routing analog or SDI?

Firstly playing off your internal is a no no but you already know that.
Did you at least render the shots because overlayed jpegs on HDV will likely need render. Secondly do your sequence settings match the clip settings exactly?
HDV 720p is HD but changing that to AIC is not advisable. If you want to transcode to a codec that is easier on the processor, then ProRes is best, but not running off your internal. An external FW800 is minimum requirement. I have no trouble running HDV 1080 50i with ProRes renders off an external FW800 on a 41/2 year old G5.

That process happens in one step when you export an OMF from the FCP timeline. The good old AVID method was a whole heap of extra work that is now redundant.

Of course the rest of the world, working in 25fps should ignore all this. PAL SD is upper field just like 1080 50i. The only lower field in PAL land is DV so if you can avoid that codec all is easy.

Don’t convert to AIC. That is an needless transcoding. If you want to get off HDV and edit with a lossless codec, then transcode to ProRes on ingest.

The only lower field order PAL signal is DV regrettably. Your AVID friends are wrong.

If all lower field shots have shift field and none of the upper footage has and you are still seeing field issues, Can you let us know if there are any shots with speed changes and if so are any of them DV.
Also if on speed change shots, are you using frame blending. Also we need to know when and how you are seeing the problem shots. Are you using any particular plugins? any info that might help?

Yes you need an interlaced sequence to playout to HDCam.(1080 50i) PAL is actually really easy for field dominanace. Everything is upper except DV. So check that the shift field filter is on only DV codec material. .mov or .avi are just wrappers. Check the codec.
You must check on an external monitor via a proper interface card like, Kona, Blackmagic or Matrox.
