Then the simple answer is no. Why don’t you want to use a superior transcoder like Compressor where you can set up your own custom settings and then just drag & drop?
You shouldn’t change your sequence settings to H264. Stick with the native edit codec.

I hear the advice. Unfortunately I often get the call to book the post long after the show has been captured and editing is in fine cut stage.
I will experiment with converting to ProRes pre grade and whether software conversion to 1920 looks as good or better than letting the Kona do it on the fly.

Even with codecs like HDV & XDCam? As I am mostly on docos, they seem to be the most common codes I get delivered. Not many people do the ProRes ingest and even fewer ask me before they capture.

I was itching to get into Color but patient enough in my old age to wait until FCS3 and reliable round tripping.
I skipped Leopard entirely.

Regardless of frame rate woes, there is no way you can project and shoot an image on camera that will hold sync with location sound.
Do a proper telecine where everything is referenced. Get them to supply 1080 ProRes files at 24fps. provided the film camera was crystal synced @ 24 fps and the audio record device had a decent crystal lock, the two should sync properly.

Open a new sequence. Drag and drop just one of the AE files into the timeline. If it prompts to change settings say yes.
Compare the settings of the new sequence to your edit sequence and then let us know what those settings and differences are and we will have a better idea. Also any details on FCP version, computer & drive specs will help.

My guess is hard drive speed but with no information about footage codec, sequence settings, computer and drive specs that is just a rough guess.

Sounds like you didn’t have the HDV codec on the other computer, but the sound played because it is standard mpeg2.
When you drop the file into iDVD it converts the HDV to standard def mpeg2 which everything can play.

If you select the correct easy setup (in this case HDV 1080 60i) and the camera/ deck is set to output HDV and not downconvert to DV codec then your clips should be HDV.
Check the Easy Setup and deck settings. There must be a mistake in there.

Do a search of this forum. It may not be possible to print to tape in HDV. I just don’t know so you will have to do a bit of research.
