Export problem: audio but no video
I just exported a sequence using Quicktime Movie, Current Settings and ended up with a .mov file that was just over 800 MB. When I checked the file it was fine. I dragged the file onto a DVD and burned it. When I tried to watch the DVD (by copying the .mov to my hard drive) there was sound and no picture.
However, using iDVD I was able to burn a DVD with that same .mov file.
So why would there be no picture when I tried to copy the file, uncompressed, onto a DVD?I thought that this was the best way to make a high quality, uncompressed output. Is there another, more reliable way to do it? Perhaps using the h.264 codec?
The footage was shot on HDV.

Sounds like you didn’t have the HDV codec on the other computer, but the sound played because it is standard mpeg2.
When you drop the file into iDVD it converts the HDV to standard def mpeg2 which everything can play.

Thanks for your response. This leads me to wonder, what is the best way to export a high resolution file to ensure that it can be played on computers that don’t have the HDV codec? Or is there a download so that someone can add the HDV codec for viewing? Thanks.

Any PC with Flash Player will read a H264.
Just change the extension: “.flv” instead of “.mov”.
