FPV to tape?
My system is: Mac Intel, Max RAM, many HDs, OS 10.5.6, FCP 5.1.4
I am able to capture HDV into FCP, however, when I attempt to ‘print-to-tape’ my deck will not capture. My HDV deck is a Sony 1080i, HVR M-1OU.
Print-to-tape works fine in the SD mode but not the HDV. I’ve tried every setup combination that I can think of.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Vers 5.1.4 was early days for HDV in Final Cut. I am not sure if later version can print HDV to tape either but I am pretty sure it doesn’t work in that vers.
You could try searching the forum as it has come up many times before.

Thanks Michael. I will upgrade next week once present project is completed.
However, the print-to-tape window and footage is displayed on my computer monitor, it just won’t bump over to tape. (???)

Do a search of this forum. It may not be possible to print to tape in HDV. I just don’t know so you will have to do a bit of research.

I believe that it is edit to tape that is not possible with HDV.
When printing to tape HDV must conform, and that will take a LONG time.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

Phil- You should be able to print to tape. Go to Audio/Video Settings A/V Devices. Make sure the box ‘Different Output for Edit/Print to Tape’ is NOT checked. When it starts the conforming process (HDV) you’ll know you are good to go.
