  • Why are my HD files being converted to DV/DVCPRO?

Posted by Aryn Leigh on October 26, 2009 at 3:27 am

I have FCP on my macbook pro, the version of the program is 6.0.1. Whenever I import at the sequence and import settings “HDV1080-60”, The footage is compressed to DV.

Seems a simple enough problem to fix but why?

    Hi Aryn,
That sounds to that your camera is down-converting to DV on play.

If you select the correct easy setup (in this case HDV 1080 60i) and the camera/ deck is set to output HDV and not downconvert to DV codec then your clips should be HDV.

Check the Easy Setup and deck settings. There must be a mistake in there.
