I suspect your client doesn’t use terminology correctly. 50i means 25 fps with interlaced fields. 25i means 12.5 fps with interlaced fields.
I suspect your client doesn’t actually want to halve the frame rate.

FCP doesn’t export audio formats other than aif and wav. It does export quicktime files which can be larger than 4 gig and they can be multichannel files.
If you can explain why an audio export from FCP will exceed 4 gigs per file, then perhaps I can help advise a different way to export your audio.

Deinterlacing is often advised as a way to fix basic field order problems in the workflow. Bear in mind you will be reducing your overall resolution with deinterlacing.
Try sorting your field order issues as deinterlacing will not make slo mos as smooth as interlaced done correctly.
DV is the only lower field order PAL codec. A lot depends on how you are exporting your quicktime from the sequence. Using Compressor to make the final mpeg is good but what are your settings in the original edit sequence and the QT export. Also are you using Qt conversion?

Your settings are weird. If you export with current settings from your HDV timeline and then bring that into Compressor, you should be exporting an mpeg2 for DVDSP. Use the 90 minute best quality preset until you get the hang of tweaking some of the values.
I don’t understand the DV PAL compressor setting you refer to. Basically you want Compressor (the program) to do the down convert to 720 x 576. DV is an intermediate transcoding step that is entirely unnecessary and unhelpful as it chews titles and graphics. So export from FCP with the same settings as the sequence.

What is the frame rate? The timecode output in the right column shows ;39 frames???

What is your editing setup? If you have an I/O card that can down convert on the fly from HD to SD with composite or component video out and your monitor has compatible inputs, the answer is yes.

I would go straight to both Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and FCP 7.0.1 .This is what I have just done and it has been running lean, mean and stable for the past few weeks on a brand new MacPro.
I would be wary of FCP 6 on Snow Leopard.

In the log and capture window there is a tab that shows video and audio tracks to capture. Just turn off the tracks you don’t need to capture before you log.
This isn’t really a Blackmagic issue.

Try slowing the audio files by .1% . It sounds like you have a drift caused by the difference between true 24 fps and NTSC frame rates that are .1% off true.
