    Hello Cows

    FCP 6.0.6
    MacPro Quad processor
    OS X 10.5.8
Black Magic DeckLink HD Extreme (2009 version, current driver)

Most of my work is with DigiBeta in & out, via SDI, in uncompressed SD

The “BlackMagic NTSC-8 bit” uncompressed easy setup only gives me the option of capturing all 16 channels of audio. Can’t modify it in the capture settings to 4 channels (or anything else). Can’t select anything other than 16 channels when I try to make a new setup.

So I have to log the clip(s), then modify the clip settings to 4 channels, then batch capture.

This can’t be right. What am I missing?

(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum – just move me to the BlackMagic forum if needed.)

    Thanks for any help.

In the log and capture window there is a tab that shows video and audio tracks to capture. Just turn off the tracks you don’t need to capture before you log.

This isn’t really a Blackmagic issue.

That was the first thing I tried to do. Didn’t seem to work. Still got a clip with 16 channels of nothing.

Of course, this was some time ago, and I’ve been using mostly clips digitized elsewhere lately. I’ll try it again, as the system was just updated a couple of weeks ago.

In the deck control preset settings you can set how many audio channels are available.

What would I do without the ‘UNDO’ button!!!!

So I checked it out now that I’m back at work. And, yes, I can just turn off tracks 5-16 in the clip settings tab. I seem to recall that didn’t work before, but it’s OK now. What confused me (and still puzzles me) is that I can’t get access to the Input Channels dropdown – it’s grayed out.

Per Baz’s reply, I checked the device control preset. The” Blackmagic NTSC 29.97″ preset says 4 channels of audio. Yet all 16 show up as available in the capture window. I edited the preset (to 2 channels) and it had no effect. So I put it back to 4 channels (still no effect).

So the immediate problem is solved, but the underlying settings & solution seem unresolved. Shouldn’t the preset present only 4 channels as available? Or is this just one of those “FCP is what it is “mysteries?

Thanks for all your help, guys.
