Sounds like the codec is missing on the PC. This has been mentioned a few times on this forum so a quick search here might reveal a link to download the HDV codec (I am guessing as I don’t know exactly what you are using)
If you have been transcoding to ProRes, those codecs for quicktime on a PC are available. Again a search here will uncover more, probably a link.

I’m with Shane. I mostly do docos that are captured native HDV, edited without any grief and then sent to me to grade. The final grade is done in ProRes (I use Color) but you can also set the FCP sequence to render in ProRes.
This is the workflow with the least storage and the least transcoding. The only negative is that big projects with HDV might bog down on an older slower machine. AIC is to be avoided.

There is no reason to make a separate IMX sequence. As your field issues are OK in the uncompressed, make a self contained Quicktime and go straight to Compressor as Jeremy has said.
Alternatively, just import the uncompressed into an IMX sequence as the field order will be baked into the uncompressed file. Although this is a case for nesting, I suggest an uncompressed file is better for many reasons, especially going to Compressor.

Shane, that link is the same as John Pale’s link and the trick is to select the OS before the software comes up. The firmware for the camera which fixes the frame rate and audio sample rates is also there, before you change the settings for OS
So you will have to change your stock answer to indicate that there is the firmware to fix the frame rate & sample rate issues plus the FCP plugin after selecting OS

John, I can only find the pdf instruction manual, not the actual FCP software via that link. I have read that Canon were releasing this software, but a search of their site didn’t reveal it as an available download?

For the record, I use NAS units to stream video and audio with my Fairlight audio systems. One NAS provides either DV or H264 codec files simultaneously to two Fairlights. The other NAS provides the audio to the two Fairlights but with 10,000 rpm drives to handles the fast seek times of lots of separate audio files. We have tested the audio NAS to handle simultaneous record & playback (ie write/read) of 96 audio tracks and it does it easily.
Fragmented video clips will be another challenges and anything about DV or HDV will likely fail to be reliable enough. In other words, forget it as a reliable video editing network option, but they are very useful for network backups.

Don’t change the field settings in the item properties. I am not sure what yo8u are doing but the golden rule is to have all PAL sequences as upper except DV. All PAL sources should also be upper field except DV source material.
So if everything is correctly set and the shift field filter only applied to the DV footage, then there should be no interlace issues. The only outstanding problem might be caused by DV clips that are sped up or slowed down. That is another issue with a work around of making new quicktime files of those shots, baking in the speed changes.

Check the clips to make sure there is just the one shift fields filter on the DV footage. Sometime FCP tries to be helpful and automatically apply the shift fields filter.

In PAL everything except DV is upper fields. You need to choose what your sequence is going to be and as has already been said, add the shift fields filter to the shots that differ from your sequence.
I would recommend making a sequence in 10 bit uncompressed if your drives are fast enough and copy your edit sequence into that. All the DV shots then need to have a shift fields filter applied and all the other material has no shift field filter.
That should then play correctly. From there if you are playing out to digi beta then that is also upper as are PAL DVDs. The advantage of making the final sequence uncompressed 10 bit is also your titles and graphics will look much better than DV codec would allow. My golden rule for PAL is to avoid DV codec at all times.
