I’m not using Mac OS but I thought that it was FCPX dropping codecs, not a function of the OS. Might be worth checking the Blackmagic website or their forum to see if there is any effect. Codec support should be software not OS but who knows with Apple and the games they play.

The way the tracks are setup in Clip Attributes may mean tks 3&4 are routing to outputs only heard with a 5.1 bus.

Glad you figured it out Tim. The database approach might seem odd if you are used to the single project file approach. There are advantages in a database approach to share assets like sound effects libraries, powergrades etc across numerous projects. I’m sure once you get used to it and the wisdom of backing up both database and project files, it won’t trouble you.

I think the enthusiasm expressed in the article is ignoring the transition pain. If we look down the track past that then sure the future looks better for Apple. But to assume that Microsoft will be the loser is simplistic. Apple’s share of computer OS has always been insignificant to Microsoft. MS are also getting much more cosy with Linux and so they can also make a switch to ARM down the track and the transition may be smoother than Apple’s.
A big fly in Apple’s ointment might be the purchase of ARM by NVIDIA. It’s no secret that NVIDIA and Apple haven’t seen eye to eye over GPUs so let’s see what that might bring to the debate.
Either way I’m not touching Apple products nor recommending them to anyone at the moment.

24 (or 23.976) to 25 fps is easy to achieve in Resolve. If you have a file that needs any frame rate conversion just like you used to do in Cinema Tools, you simply select a file (or multiple files) in your media folder, right click to bring up Clip Attributes and then select the frame rate you want each clip to now be. Unlike Cinema Tools this is non destructive and project based.
Resolve has pitch correction applied automatically when you do that or you can opt out and apply pitch correction in the timeline on a clip by clip (or multiple clip) basis.

Firstly did you install the new version over the old or change the path so you might possibly have two versions installed. Check your icons and see if you can launch the old version. If so then backup your database and import that backup into the new install.
If not then import the backed up project files into the new database.
And please stop asking if Resolve ‘self destructs’ and deletes work. I’ve already told you it doesn’t. I’ve never experienced what you have. Blackmagic always advises users to backup because it’s a computer and shit happens. Sometimes operator error and sometime who knows.

No it never deletes. It sometimes updates the database. It might corrupt but that is far more likely going to a totally new version not a point update.

What version did you go from and what is the new version? Did you backup your database or project files before install?

The most likely scenario is the drive with media is not plugged in or if you are on PC, the drive may be mapped to the wrong drive letter. That is assuming you haven’t done anything at the Finder/ explorer level to the original files. Files are linked by drive and folder path. If any of those path attributes changes, Resolve will show offline files. Either fix the file path (on PC re mapping the drive letter) or do a relink on the media page and point the direction to the files

In the grade page (which is what your image shows, not fusion), you drag your OFX plugin to a node. Then the controls should be available. Be aware that only the studio version of Resolve includes access to all OFX plugins. If you have the free version, you might not be able to use that sharpen plugin. However you can use the built in sharpen/ blur options. The icon next to the tracker opens up the blur/mist/sharpen tool
