Media Offline – I cannot relink it. HELP!!!!!
Posted by Camilo Ramos on September 28, 2020 at 10:30 pmI have a project with several timelines that I finished grading. Don’t know what happened but now when I open it most of the clips in the timeline are “OFFLINE MEDIA” and I cannot relink them because they don’t show up in the media pool. Any ideas? Suggestions?? Please help!!!

September 29, 2020 at 2:09 amI have had this happen several times on large projects and a 1 TB SSD.
If the footage is not in the Media Pool, then they will show as offline in the Timeline.
First try to reload the footage into the Media Pool.
If that doesn’t work, make sure your storage hard drive is not full. Resolve has a tendency to fill small hard drives with Cache Clips and Optimized Media. If the hard drive is full, then Resolve will not work correctly. If this is the problem, then correct this by deleting the bloat.
Shut down Resolve, then restart Resolve. Then reload the footage into the Media Pool.

September 29, 2020 at 6:17 amThe most likely scenario is the drive with media is not plugged in or if you are on PC, the drive may be mapped to the wrong drive letter. That is assuming you haven’t done anything at the Finder/ explorer level to the original files. Files are linked by drive and folder path. If any of those path attributes changes, Resolve will show offline files. Either fix the file path (on PC re mapping the drive letter) or do a relink on the media page and point the direction to the files

October 1, 2020 at 8:07 amMake the ‘Path’ column in the Media Pool active if it isn’t already. Then against each offline clip, check the path and ensure that its valid. Like, the drive/folder names and full paths are not different from what Resolve is seeing. If they are, then either do a relink and relink them to the new path, or at the Finder level rename folders to match.
